Micheal Hudson calls banks parasites

In Mesopothamia it was common to eleminate all debts when a new king was installed. They knew already than that debts always increase at a higher speed than the economy can grow… Micheal Hudson explains this in this video:

NEW DEBT FREE GLOBAL ECONOMY

TEXT OF THE STATEMENT:

Neither banks nor public authorities (or mainstream academics, for that matter) calculated the economy’s realistic ability to pay – that is, to pay without shrinking the economy. Through their media and think tanks, they have convinced populations that the way to get rich most rapidly is to borrow money to buy real estate, stocks and bonds rising in price – being inflated by bank credit – and to reverse the past century’s progressive taxation of wealth.

To put matters bluntly, the result has been junk economics. Its aim is to disable public checks and balances, shifting planning power into the hands of high finance on the claim that this is more efficient than public regulation. Government planning and taxation is accused of being “the road to serfdom,” as if “free markets” controlled by bankers given leeway to act recklessly is not planned by special interests in ways that are oligarchic, not democratic. Governments are told to pay bailout debts taken on not to defend countries in military warfare as in times past, but to benefit the wealthiest layer of the population by shifting its losses onto taxpayers.

The failure to take the wishes of voters into consideration leaves the resulting national debts on shaky ground politically and even legally. Debts imposed by fiat, by governments or foreign financial agencies in the face of strong popular opposition may be as tenuous as those of the Habsburgs and other despots in past epochs. Lacking popular validation, they may die with the regime that contracted them. New governments may act democratically to subordinate the banking and financial sector to serve the economy, not the other way around. » read more

Hello world citizens!

My name is Linda. I live in the Netherlands. I am born in 1962, I am married, I have two daughthers and I studied engineering at the Delft Technical University. All my live I have felt that I should make a contribution. So I worked hard to educate myself, I always read piles of books and articles, I wanted to learn how things work and never hesitated to put myself in new situations. I thought that if I developed myself, I would be asked to use this talent. I thought for a long time that talent would always surface and that I would be offered opportunities to proove what I am worth.

During my thirties I find out that this is not the way things work. So I started my own business. I wanted to change the position of women like myself that try to combine a career with the care of childeren. I found that only my economic worth was validated and none of my other skills. How I raised my childeren and how a managed to balance my household spendings or plan all my different tasks and roles as a friend, mother, daughter, spouse and citizen where totally neglected.

I am now end fourty and I am done waiting politly! I am done being treated as a production mean only, a consumer, a homo economicus. I am human and intend to stay that way. I am a social being and want to interact with others. I have many talents that are not used, because our society is not build around these values anymore.

I have a talent to listen, to support, to educate, to create, to think out of the box, to work hard, to share, to communicate, to be patient, to believe, to love.

And that is why I started this website. Because I am a firm believer that we all can make a difference. That we all have individual talents that matter. That we have to realise that we always have a choice. And that if we use our voice we can make a change.
Together. Because you cannot change the world on your own!

What I want you to do is, think how you can help me in building this site (or another) into a voting machine. Where we all can see how the people in each country of the world set the top 3 priorities for their politicians.

This is how I think it can work:

  1. For each of the 204 countries that are mentioned in the wikipedia list there should be a voting page.
  2. Each individual that wants to vote should subscribe to the site as a member. You choose your (home)country that you want to represent. It is important that you only vote once, to avoid abuse. You can ofcourse change your vote, because you can an may always change your mind on things!
  3. You vote on issues that have already been posted or you post your own issue.
  4. Out of all the votes on issues that you think should be the priority for the leaders of your own country and the priority for the worldleaders, we generate a top 3 list that is visible on the homepage and is constantly refreshed.
  5. We also show the last postings that have been added on the homepage, the number of people that have already voted  and how this relates to the percentage of people that live in a country or in the world!
  6. Furthermore the site should invite people to debate over each topic that is posted.

I think this can work! But I do not know how to build this! So please help and comment on this post!
How do we come from A to B?
TXS Linda
